Garrincha

The excellent Brazilian nicknamed “little bird” was born in Magé, RJ, Brazil on October 28, 1933. For his eminent performances on football fields as a right winger and a striker, he was taken as the best footballers and footballers in history. For his advantages in Brazil, he was called Alegria do Povo (People’s Joy) and Anjo de Pernas Tortas (Bent-Legged Angel) in Brazil.

 

When he played with the Brazil national football team, the Brazil national football team won the 1958 and 1962 FIFA World Cup. In the condition of Pele’s absence, Brazil national football team won the 1962 tournament with the help of Garrincha. As the top goal-scorer of Brazil side, he was honored the World Cup Golden Ball and the Golden Boot. At the same time, he was put into the World Cup All-Star Team as an excellent football player. When the Brazil national football team with the two competent footballers, the team never lost a football match.

Although his father dedicated in drinking whole day, the boy doesn’t care this problem at all. In 1953, some officials of the football team was very delighted to learn the young boy aged 18. At the very beginning, the outstanding performance of the young boy was recognized by another competent professional footballer – Nilton Santos, who is a defender and a midfielder contributing to numerous accolades and honors of the Brazil side. From 1955 to 1966, Garrincha played fifty football matches for the team, and he also played the 1958, 1962 and 1966 World Cups.
